Iran holds one of the most diverse climates in the world, encompassing regions from dry and semi-arid lands to subtropical and alpine climates. Within this vast range, deserts are among Iran’s most compelling landscapes, each with unique characteristics and enduring mysteries.
More than half of Iran’s land—spanning over 130,000 square kilometers—is dominated by deserts, from the sprawling Dasht-e Kavir in the north-central region to the enigmatic Lut Desert in the east. These vast expanses are not just barren stretches of sand and salt; they are a testament to nature’s ability to endure and inspire. Iran’s deserts, including the iconic Rig-e Jenn, Abuzeydabad near Kashan, Maranjab, Bafgh, Bashruyeh, and Tabas deserts, reveal a delicate yet powerful beauty shaped by millennia of geological evolution.
In photographing these landscapes, I aim to bring out the quiet majesty and intricate textures of Iran’s deserts. From the towering dunes to salt flats that resemble abstract paintings, each shot captures a piece of the timeless allure of these deserts. My images invite the viewer to experience the raw beauty and isolation of these places, inspiring a deeper appreciation for Iran’s natural heritage. Through my lens, I hope to contribute to a broader understanding and respect for these fragile ecosystems.
